Main Text: Psalm 18:1–3
- Introduction: The Song Behind the Victories
- Psalm 18 = David’s victory song after being delivered from his enemies.
- Also found in 2 Samuel 22 – God’s faithfulness remembered.
- David was 18-0 in battle. The people asked: “How did you do it?”
- His answer: “It’s not me—it’s the LORD.”
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer...” (v.2)
- Life Has Hard Places
- Personal, physical, financial, spiritual.
- Sometimes one-on-one... sometimes all gang up at once.
- David’s example shows: God is bigger than any hard place.
- The Bold Declaration: “The Lord IS”
- David wasn’t shy—he declared God’s role confidently.
- Our world needs bold believers willing to say who God really is.
- Not “I am…” but “The LORD is…”
- What the Lord Is to David—and to Us
- My Rock – Firm foundation
- My Fortress – Protection from external attacks
- My Deliverer – Rescues from self-made trouble
- My Shield – Personal defense
- The Horn of My Salvation – Power to overcome
- My Stronghold – Safe place to rest
- Fortress vs. Deliverer
- The Fortress (Trouble you didn’t cause)
- When trouble finds you unexpectedly, God is a refuge.
- From Saul to Absalom—David ran to the same rock.
- God is a constant refuge across every season of life.
- The Deliverer (Trouble you caused)
- When you mess up, God doesn’t run away—He runs TO you.
- He doesn't only protect you—He rescues you.
- How Do You Access the Rock?
- David said: “I will call upon the Lord...” (v.3)
- It really is that simple: Call. On. Him.
- He’s not a memorial stone—He’s a Living Rock who answers.
- From Weakness to Confidence
- Sometimes you need to borrow confidence from someone stronger.
- When you can’t believe in yourself, trust in His strength.
"We got this"—because God’s got this.
- Your Testimony is Needed
- Don’t keep the credit—tell the world what God has done.
- “When I was sick… He healed.”
- “When I was lost… He found me.”
- “When I was weak… He carried me.”
- The world wants to know how you made it—tell them: “It was the Lord.”
- Final Declaration: The Lord Lives!
- Verse 46: “The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock!”
- Our Rock is not dead.
- He sees.
- He hears.
- He moves.
- He delivers.
