Jesus knew He would die crucified in Jerusalem. Herod’s thugs had no hold on Him. Despite the warning of the Pharisees Jesus continues preaching and teaching in the land ruled by Herod. Only in Jerusalem, at the order of Pilate, is Jesus brought before Herod and ridiculed. Even as Jesus longs for Jerusalem, showing His love for the people there, He knows it will mean His doom. When it is time He will enter the city to shouts of praise and in a few days be crucified by shouts from the same mouths that praised His entry. We too are on a mission for God. Jesus died to pay for our sins. We live to spread the good news that through Jesus our sins are forgiven and we can have intimacy with God. May we be as trusting of God’s hand upon our destiny as Jesus. May we be as bold to proclaim the truth and count it worth the cost to see others come to faith in Him.

Dr. Dwight
